Keynote lecture
This year's speaker in the Hilgendorf Lecture will be Dr. Wencke Krings, researcher at Leipzig University. Wencke Krings's research focuses on functional morphology and evolutionary biomechanics in invertebrates, with a particular emphasis on molluscan feeding structures. By integrating advanced imaging, biomechanical analyses, material tests, force measurements, simulations and ecological perspectives, she aims to understand how form and function evolve. Her broader interests include comparative morphology, bio-inspired design, and the links between organismal performance, ecology, and evolutionary history. She will present her talk entitled “Convergent functions, divergent forms: radular adaptations in ecological contexts”.
Registration and Abstract submission
Attendance of the meeting is free of charge and open to all interested students (any level) and faculty, including those not directly affiliated with the EVEREST grad school. All participants (contributors and attendees) need to register no later than 07 November 2025 through the Meeting registration form. Here, contributors of poster and oral presentations also submit their Abstract, including contribution Title, Author(s), Affiliation(s), and Abstract (150 words maximum).
Oral and poster presentation formats
Oral contributions are 15 minutes, followed by a 5 min discussion. Projections will be from a Windows PC. The presentation should be provided before the meeting as PowerPoint (.pptx) or PDF files — we prefer the latter to avoid compatibility problems. Posters are vertical with A0 dimensions (1189 mm x 841 mm). There will be a dedicated poster session with snacks and drinks.
Meeting announcement poster
Promote the event by sharing the meeting announcement poster through digital and analogue channels.
Meeting Dinner
Attendants are invited to join for our informal meeting dinner in the Afrika Bar & Restaurant (one drink and food included), starting after the Hilgendorf lecture.
Your Meeting StEvE hosts
This year's StEvE meeting is organized by the PhD students and scientists in the Evolutionary Biology of Invertebrates group.
