Alongside his role of the medical director of the Department of Sports Medicine of the University of Tübingen, Prof. Dr. Andreas Nieß is a collaborating professor at the Institute of Sports Science and member of the institute's executive board.
The department of Sports Medicine deals with the influence of exercise, training and sports on both the healthy and the unhealthy individual. The department treats patients and athletes with movement-related health problems and injuries concerning the postural and motor apparatus as well as individuals who perform a training program aimed at rehabilitation and preventive measures. In addition to health examinations in competitive sports of top athletes of the German national- and region squads, a sports-medical supervision in professional football and athletics is accomplished.
The department renders substantial and fundamental teaching work for the sports-scientific study fields Teacher's Training Certificate, B.A. and M.A.
