Welcome to the Institute of Sports Science at the University of Tübingen!

We are delighted that you are interested in doing an exchange at the Institute of Sports Science in Tübingen. On this website, you will find first information regarding our study programme in Sports Management, Sports Media and Communication, Sports and Health Promotion, and Physical Education.

Since its founding in 1839, the Institute of Sports Science at the University of Tübingen developed into one of the most recognized Sports Science Institutions in Germany. Currently, there are more than 50 sports scientists working and researching at the institute and together with the university hospital the institute also offers inter-institutional research in the field of Sports and Physical Activity.

Located in the eastern part of Tübingen, the Institute of Sports Science has a high standard of modern and functional facilities. There are two regular-sized football pitches, an athletics stadium, tennis courts and beach volleyball fields, a swimming pool, a gymnastics hall, as well as numerous sports and lecture halls and classrooms. To guarantee adequate research, the institute also has a biomechanics lab and fitness gym.

Which classes can I take in Tübingen and how do I register?

The courses offered at the Institute of Sports Science include mainly course in the German language. All courses offered in the winter and summer semesters can be viewed in the list below. Registration for the courses is done via ALMA, the online portal of the university.

In addition to the courses offered by the Institute of Sports Science, there are special language courses for exchange students. For example, improve your German language skills by taking one of the many language courses at the university (level A1-C2). More information on German courses can be found on the website of the Foreign Language Center.

Learning Agreement:

Erasmus and CIVIS students need to fill in a Learning Agreement with the course they intend to take at the Institute of Sports Science and send it to Dr. Verena Burk (verena.burk@uni-tuebingen.de). There are two options on how to do it:

  • Online Learning Agreement: If your home institution supports OLA you are welcome to fill in your Learning Agreement in the official online portal.
  • Classic Learning Agreement: Alternatively, you can submit your Learning Agreement as filled in word-document or scanned pdf-document.

Exam Registration:

The exam registration for exchange students at the Institute of Sport Science is done by the office for examinations and via the exam registration exchange student form. Who will help me with further questions?

At university level, the International Office is responsible for your questions and issues.
