Research Center for Animation and Emerging Media

Animation shapes a large part of media communication processes worldwide and has become a basic technology that encompasses almost all areas of society, requiring unusual networking in research. Although the topic is considered to be of immense international relevance and great innovative potential, it is still far from being exhaustively researched. The aim of the Research Centre for Animation and Emerging Media is to conduct interdisciplinary basic research in the fields of visualisation, virtual reality, simulation and animation. The centre brings together scientists from various disciplines in the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. The participating disciplines examine the focus topic using different research methods and at different levels of abstraction, as only the breadth of research contexts and methods, as well as the diversity of links between the different disciplines, enable an in-depth examination of the focus topic of animation, taking into account the levels of representation, reception and impact
