RadCHECKs 2026

Instead of a single RadCHECK event, the summer semester 2026 saw three RadCHECKs take place: on 21 April, 20 May, and 9 July 2026. Once again, the grounds of the Institute of Sports Science (Alberstraße 27) proved to be an excellent venue this year. Even in fairly unfavourable weather, the spacious pavilions offered plenty of room and shelter from the rain. While in April and May we were wearing rain jackets and even gloves, July brought us the best weather of the season. Across the three dates, well over a hundred bikes were checked, repaired, and made roadworthy again.

The booking system also proved its worth again this year, helping to avoid long waiting times. This meant our team could usually attend to participants and their bikes right away. For anyone who did have to wait, the SGM's movement snack (Bewegungssnack) offered a selection of sports equipment and various spots to relax, thus the wait turned out to be quite comfortable. For those keen to get started right away, there was also a DIY station where you could clean your own bike.

Once again, it was wonderful to see so many repaired bikes and happy cyclists! A very special thank you goes to our RadCHECKers, without whose dedication these events wouldn't be possible. We'd also like to thank everyone who stopped by with their bikes.

RadCHECK-Event 2025

On April 29, 2025, the RadCHECK event took place for the fifth time on the grounds of the Institute of Sports Science (Alberstraße 27).
In beautiful weather and with a fantastic atmosphere, many participants took the opportunity to have their bicycles checked and to explore a variety of exciting additional offers.

Thanks to the new booking system with fixed time slots, long waiting times were avoided — giving participants more time to enjoy the event’s many highlights.
The traffic safety training by UKBW and the free ergonomic consultation offered by Techniker Krankenkasse drew significant interest.
SGM was also back again, providing a selection of sports equipment to try out, along with a prize draw featuring great giveaways. Refreshments were once again provided by the student sports council, offering snacks and drinks.

A total of around 120 bicycles were given safety checks — minor defects were repaired on the spot, while more serious issues were addressed through detailed consultation.

A thoroughly successful event – thank you to everyone who joined us!

RadCHECK-Event 2024

The RadCHECK event took place for the 4th time on 24.04.2024. Fortunately, the weather was reasonably good so that the event could take place as planned on the grounds of the Institute of Sports Science (Alberstraße 27). This year, around 120 bicycles were checked by over 15 student RadCHCKER:INNEN. The waiting time for the RadCHECK could be bridged with the varied supporting program. At the DIY bike maintenance event, students learned how to maintain their bikes themselves. At the UKBW bicycle simulator, students could test their reaction speed in road traffic. At the TK Ergonmieberatung, students were able to get tips on ergonomic cycling. The sports student council and Kaffee Ape “von Erden” provided refreshments.
