The university sports department has its own climbing facility with indoor and outdoor areas. Here, in addition to the course operation, climbing can be done in both areas during the openinghours of the weight and fitness hall. Prerequisite is the possession of a valid access authorization and the signing of the liability waiver.
Various climbing course formats are offered here. From weekly beginner or advanced courses through to compact courses and bouldering courses, there is something for every level. The bouldering courses take place at the neighbouring B12 DAV bouldering centre. If you already have some climbing experience and have had enough of plastic, you can join our climbing excursions.
The indoor climbing area is located in the strength and fitness hall. It has a wall height of about 7m and includes 11 lanes. On the 11 lanes are distributed different routes in different degrees of difficulty.
There is also a campus board and a fingerboard for strengthening the finger flexors and upper arm muscles.
The climbing tower with a height of approx. 10m and 18 lanes is located in the outdoor area of the strength and fitness hall. It can be used all year round. You can expect a variety of different routes in all degrees of difficulty.
Our route building team regularly provides new varied routes in both areas in difficulty levels between 3+ and 9- UIAA.
Ten-ticket climbing
Our ten-ticket climbing gives you ten uses of the climbing area. It doesn't matter what time you visit us during our regular opening hours. Your ten-ticket is valid for one year.
For free climbing you must bring your own climbing harness, climbing shoes and rope. Free climbing requires that you have mastered the basic belaying and climbing techniques. These are taught in our beginners’ courses, among others. Free climbing is at your own risk (there is no statutory accident cover). The usage regulations for the University Sports climbing area must be observed at all times.
A valid access entitlement is required for free climbing. This can be purchased on site at the Strength and Fitness Hall. It entitles you to climb freely during the opening hours of the Strength and Fitness Hall.
