36th relay race is history
If you had to summarize this year's 100km relay race for the University of Tübingen trophy in just a few words, it would be: dirty - wet - but in the end, everyone was happy!
The starting signal was given by the mayor Dr. Gundula Schäfer-Vogel at 1 p.m. in beautiful weather. The rain didn't start until around 2 p.m. and only stopped again at the end of the run, just in time for the clean-up.
The organizing team had hoped for better weather conditions. Nevertheless, the atmosphere among the participating teams was great. Everyone came to terms with the situation and made the best of it.
"Giving up is not an option!" or "Wet is wet, it doesn't bother us when we're running!" came from the participants. The judges therefore decided to continue running rather than abandon the race.
This proved to be he right decision! After 3 hours 21 minutes, the first team of 10 runners, the "Dienstagsläufer Topteam", crossed the finish line. Wet, dirty, but happy.
The winner of the beginners' race with 15 runners was once again Gymnasium Ditzingen Running ahead of LV Pliezhausen and the Spitzbergdreppler.
We would like to thank all the teams for the great atmosphere and their perseverance.
Special thanks also go to:
- Michael Belz and Annika Autenrieth for the organizational work in the run-up to the event, during the run and for the follow-up work.
- Wolfgang Amann and Helmut Helten with the helpers from Post SV Tübingen for organizing the running route
- the Lorettoklinik, who provided medical treatment for minor injuries and abrasions.
- the massage students from the BG Tübingen physiotherapy school, who tirelessly loosened up the runners' calves.
- the many helpers who make this event possible every year, including the technical staff of the Institute of Sports Science.
- the sponsors who have supported us with prizes.
We look forward to next year!
