Seminar Series in Memory of Christoph Schwöbel - 27th June - 07th July

Scriptural Reasoning : Hope Jewish, Christian and Muslim Perspectives -27th June - 07th July

The Scriptural Reasoning Seminar will focus on how the Bible and the Qur’an view ‘hope’, its definition and foundations. In what ways does the notion of hope define one’s relationship to God, nature and other human beings? How do Christian and Muslim traditions articulate their understanding of ‘hope’ in relation to faith. What are the similarities and differences between the two faith traditions? How have Muslims and Christians read their own scriptures and the scriptures of the other, especially the verses dealing with hope? Questions such as these will be discussed by engaging with the Bible and the Qur’an, following the method of Scriptural Reasoning. The conversation will be enriched with the participation of some renown international scholars whose names will be announced in due time.
