Economic Policy is a quarterly journal providing timely and authoritative analyses of the choices confronting policymakers. It offers an independent, non-partisan, perspective on issues of worldwide concern. It emphasizes problems of international significance, either because they affect the world economy directly or because the experience of one country contains important lessons for policymakers elsewhere.
Prior to publication, each article is discussed by a Panel of distinguished economists. Summaries of Panellists’ comments are included in each volume in order to provide readers with alternative interpretations of the evidence and a sense of the liveliness of the current debate. The Panel, which rotates annually, represents a broad range of specialisations and nationalities.

With around 3,800 personal and corporate members, the Verein für Socialpolitik is the largest association of economists in the German-speaking region. The purpose of the association is the scientific discussion of economic and social science as well as economic and social policy problems, both orally and in writing, as well as the cultivation of international relations within the scientific community.
These goals are pursued, among others, in 23 standing committees, including the Public Finance Commission, which was founded in 1959 and has somewhat more than 100 members from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The members are researchers specializing in finance who meet regularly once a year in the week after Pentecost for a three-day working session.
