Judith Havemann

My name is Judith Havemann, and I have been pursuing a PhD in the Mathematics and its Didactics research group since February 2021. My research interest is primarily mathematical talent. In line with this, I am developing and evaluating a digital enrichment course for mathematically gifted students in the fifth and sixth grades as part of my dissertation. The course focuses on mathematical patterns and structures. The students learn to recognize structures, describe them, and work with them. I am particularly interested in whether the students gain competencies in working with patterns and structures through participation in the course. Does the topic motivate them, and does participation make them even better at mathematics?
