Profile
The ongoing process of globalization leads to an increasingly dense interconnection in economic, social and political terms. Actors in this network necessarily need to cross state borders more and more frequently and activities with cross-border effects are becoming a more and more commonplace phenomenon. The negative effects of these developments entail an increasing number and intensity of cross-border criminal offenses. This means that the comparison of criminal procedure, court constitution law and the laws governing the application of national criminal law on extraterritorial criminal offenses is becoming increasingly important. The same is true for the international transfer of information and knowledge concerning the laws governing international judicial assistance in criminal cases.
The International Law Exchange Service (ILES) provides access to the relevant sources of German law for academic staff at universities; justices, judges, magistrates and court staff; prosecutors and attorneys at law; government official and legislative assemblies from outside Germany.
ILES has access to the resources of libraries throughout Germany and to all relevant online data bases. On this basis we can provide a broad range of up-to-date information. We can answer specific questions of law. Due to this concept the transfer of knowledge is tailored to your individual interests. In order to facilitate the further use of the legal sources submitted, we will conduct a preliminary screening and issue a summary in the form of a brief opinion. After having submitted our initial summary and the legal sources cited therein, we will answer additional questions as far as possible. If required, we can provide additional legal sources as far as possible. ILES is exclusively based on electronic means of communication. You can find the web forms for initial requests, further requests and requests for additional legal sources here. All summaries and legal sources will be delivered to your email-address.
