The Hector Children Academies offer a voluntary, additional program to promote giftedness for elementary school children in Baden-Württemberg. They are being scientifically monitored by Prof. Dr. Marcus Hasselhorn from the Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education (DIPF) in Frankfurt and Prof. Dr. Jessika Golle and Prof. Dr. Ulrich Trautwein from the Hector Institute for Empirical Educational Research.
The aim is to investigate the extent to which the Hector Children Academies contribute to the positive development of particularly gifted and highly talented elementary school children. In addition, generalizable findings on the development and support of especially gifted and highly gifted children are to be derived from the results. The scientific monitoring of the project is designed as a formative evaluation, so that important findings from the accompanying studies can be directly incorporated into the work of the Hector Children Academies. A particular challenge here is to take into account the local characteristics of the Hector Children Academies and at the same time to establish support that is similar and quality-checked at all locations.
The results are presented to the advisory board at least once a year for its information. The scientific monitoring and evaluation is planned for a period of eight years.
