Tübingen Center for Digital Education

Advanced Seminars in Teaching and Learning with Digital Media (M.Ed.)

In addition to the required module “Teaching and Learning with Digital Media,” students may select up to two of the required advanced seminars from the “Teaching and Learning with Digital Media” track within the elective component. These seminars focus on different areas, such as media literacy or the use of AI in the classroom.

Depending on the thematic focus, the content is explored in greater depth from either a media didactics or media pedagogy perspective. While media didactics focuses in particular on didactic design, the methodologically reflective use of digital tools, and issues of lesson planning and design (for example, through so-called micro-teachings), media education perspectives focus more strongly on aspects of media literacy, critical reflection on digital technologies, and the promotion of corresponding competencies among students.

Compared to lectures, the advanced seminars have smaller class sizes and are therefore highly interactive. This creates space for discussion, collaborative work, and the sharing of personal perspectives on digital education. Here, students have the opportunity to specifically develop their skills in teaching and learning with digital media and to refine these skills in a subject-specific manner (for example, regarding AI in schools, forms of digital violence, computer-based feedback, digital media in foreign language instruction, etc.) in relation to their own fields of study.
