Hinweise zum Seminar

This seminar will discuss the latest international research in the field of Economic History. Each student will choose an article among the topics offered below from within the field. The content and methodology of the article should provide some ideas and act as a guideline for your own analyses, including a presentation of the paper, data analysis and your own extension of the topic. The student will have to confirm with the lecturer whether the chosen article is ideal to successfully complete this seminar.
Please make use of the EconLit-search engine (access via UB homepage) to search for literature and read studies related to your topic in important journals. Please be aware that it is not enough for your paper to only be based on 2 or 3 research papers.
You will also receive a short introduction on presentation techniques, providing good practice for your bachelor theses.

Requirements

A seminar paper and a presentation are required. Most papers within the field will consist of some econometric analysis, therefore, it would be helpful if you have at least a basic knowledge of regression. You should be able to proceed with the core analysis and its interpretations on your own. Assistance can only be provided in limited times during office hours.
The essay should consist of about 20 pages including tables and figures. The presentation should take about 15 minutes.
