FAPESP WEEK to be held in Germany in March
The FAPESP WEEK Germany is the 24th edition of the FAESP WEEK symposium series. The event will be held in English and the deadline to register is 10 March.
The FAPESP WEEK Germany, organized by São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG – German Research Foundation), will take place on 25 and 26 March 2025 at the Freie Universität Berlin, in Berlin.
The symposium aims at strengthening the links between researchers from São Paulo and Germany to promote research partnerships.
Since 2011, the FAPESP Week symposium series have been creating opportunities and facilitating research collaboration between researchers from the state of São Paulo, Brazil, and colleagues worldwide.
The FAPESP WEEK Germany brings together scientists from São Paulo and numerous German research locations in academic sessions featuring presentations and discussions on advanced scientific results that are relevant to both regions involved and likely to foster research collaboration. The event also aims to inform additional researchers about the opportunities for research funding cooperation between the state of São Paulo and Germany.

University of Tübingen to Participate in FAPESP Week
On March 25, the University of Tübingen will participate in Scientific Session 1: “Precision Medicine” at FAPESP WEEK. Representing the university will be Lars Zender, Medical Director of the Department of Medical Oncology & Pneumology. Additionally, the Center for Brazil and Latin America at Universität Tübingen will be represented by its director, Prof. Dr. Stefan Laufer.
The symposium aims to strengthen collaboration between researchers from São Paulo and Germany, fostering new research partnerships.
Partnership FAPESP and the University of Tübingen
FAPESP and the University of Tübingen have an important partnership, intensified by the Cooperation Agreement of September 2022. The aim is to strengthen the existing links between the scientific communities of the state of São Paulo and the University of Tübingen, and also to foster new forms of collaboration between their research centers, giving new impetus to bilateral collaboration. As of the Center for Brazil and Latin America at the Universität Tübingen, in particular, FAPESP is an important funding partner of the “German Brazilian Symposium for Sustainable Development” (more information), as well as the TRT - SPRINT Program.
The TRT - SPRINT is executed with the FAPESP in accordance with the SPRINT program (São Paulo Researchers in International Collaboration). SPRINT has the purpose of promoting the engagement of researchers affiliated to institutions of higher education and research in the State of São Paulo aiming at the elaboration of joint research projects of medium and long term in partnership with researchers abroad.
The next “German-Brazilian Symposium on Sustainable Development” (12th edition) will be held in 2026 (June 15-17) in Belém, Pará, and will be hosted by the Federal University of Pará (UFPA).
