Resilience in the Seminar Room: Well-being Activities and Approaches to Add Resilience to Your Syllabus

The online talk will give participants tools to add wellbeing components to their seminar room and syllabus. Themes will include: setting boundaries, time management, syllabi tweaks, and care as a core pedagogical value. The online talk will show individual practices educators can take and open up discussion around what larger, structural changes higher education as a whole needs to consider. The talk is followed by a Q&A session.

Our Speaker: Our speaker is University of Tübingen research Alumna, Dr. Courtney Dorroll, who currently works as an Associate Professor of Middle Eastern and North African Studies and Religion at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is also a Fulbright Specialist leading workshops on pedagogical best practices and higher education leadership and an American Council on Education Fellow 2022- 2023. Courtney edited the volume Teaching Islamic Studies in the Age of ISIS, Islamophobia, and the Internet (Indiana University Press, 2019). More https://sites.wofford.edu/radical-care/
