Alumni Reunion 2022 - It was beautiful!

The Alumni Reunion 2022 has already taken place on 25.06.2022.

We would like to thank all our guests, especially the donors and sponsors like EY who made this wonderful evening possible. It was a very enjoyable and memorable evening. Below you will find a few impressions of this and also of the Listfest

Who was Friedrich List?

Friedrich List is the patron of the festival and the foundation of the same name. In 1817, he had submitted a proposal to the Württemberg king to found a "political science" faculty, which subsequently became the Faculty of Economics that later became today's Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences. In the same year that the Faculty was founded, List was appointed Professor of State Administration Sciences.

The Friedrich List Foundation

Since its foundation in 1923, the Friedrich List Foundation has developed into an integral part of the department. The purpose of the foundation is to promote research and teaching at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Tübingen. Donations from alumni and friends of the Faculty of Economic Sciences enable, among other things, the improvement of library equipment, research projects of talented young scientists, financial support for guest lectures and excursions as well as the organisation of conferences and symposia. The Chairman of the Board of the Friedrich List Foundation is currently Prof. Dr. Christian Koziol.

Here you will find detailed information about the Friedrich List Foundation.

Bebenhausen Monastery - A very special venue

Our List-Fest will take place once again in the Bebenhausen Monastery. The monastery is situated not far from Tübingen, picturesque and idyllic in the rolling landscape of the Schönbuch. It was built in the 1180s and is one of the best preserved Cistercian monasteries in southern Germany. Parts of the monastery were converted into a royal hunting lodge in the 19th century and contain relics of those days worth seeing, such as the fully preserved bathroom from 1915.

Our List-Fest will take place in the summer refectory, the former summer dining room of the monks, and in the cloister, the former heart of the monastery. The summer refectory in particular shows the Gothic style at its most elegant.

Experience our large graduate and alumni festival at this special location and be there on 28 June 2019!

Alumni Reunion 2022

The non-profit Alumni and Support Association of the Department of Economics invited its alumni and their companions, as well as students of economics to the Alumni Reunion. The Reunion always takes place in even years on the last Saturday in June and we are happy that the Alumni Reunion in 2022 could now take place again in presence!

The Reunion began on 25.06.22 at 11:00 am in beautiful weather with a brunch at the Tangente Jour in downtown Tübingen. Here our alumni from different stages of life and cities met at a common table with some students. After brunch and some free time, all participants set off for the one-hour punting trip on the Neckar River. After extensive conversations, nice atmosphere and diligent networking, a small delegation still made its way to the Neckar-Müller to let the day end comfortably.

We look forward to welcoming you as a guest at the next Alumni Reunion in 2024!

Report on List-festival 2019

The 36th Friedrich List Festival - a wonderful summer evening

Good food and good weather: A wonderful conclusion for this year's graduates and a lovely reunion for our alumni at the Friedrich List Fest 2019

At the Friedich List Festival on 28th June 2019, the graduates and their families, former students, employees and professors of the university were greeted with a unique backdrop and bright sunshine at the Bebenhausen Monastery. Before that, most of you had been at the awards ceremony in the New Hall, where graduates not only received their diplomas, but also the best of you were awarded prizes by Ebner Stolz. In addition to the graduates, the doctoral candidates who received their doctoral degrees 50 or 60 years ago and thus returned to the university for their "golden or diamond doctorate" were also honoured during the awards ceremony. After the award ceremony, a bus took the guests to Bebenhausen Monastery for the Friedrich List Festival.

After a short welcome speech by Prof. Dr. Josef Schmied, Dean of the Wiso Faculty, Dr. Peter Eppinger was presented with the RWT Prize by Prof. Dr. Gerhard Braun for the best dissertation at the opening of the celebration. Afterwards the guests enjoyed a buffet dinner in the monastery, characterized by Gothic architecture, and experienced the beautiful summer evening with stimulating conversations and good company. With the generous support of our sponsors EY, Ebner Stolz and the Parkhotel Waldeck, the faculty was once again able to organize this beautiful party in such a great location.

Some guests stayed until late in the evening for conversations and a glass or two of wine, but for our students the Friedrich List Fest was only the prelude to the evening: The bus shuttle from the monastery delivered many of them directly to the graduate party of the student body in the Escape Club, where they continued celebrating until the early hours of the morning.

Lisa Duffner, a bachelor graduate who received her diploma that afternoon, praised the Festival as an all-round successful and versatile evening: "It was an unbelievably great atmosphere in the old building and the unique gathering of fellow students, family and professors was a successful conclusion to my studies".

The Friedrich List Festival always takes place alternately with our Alumni Reunion with Weißwurst breakfast and punt boat trip and is therefore held every two years. We are already looking forward to the next evening in Bebenhausen Monastery.
