The German Department has established partnerships with universities around the world, which include research collaborations and projects as well as (academic) exchange programs. These offer students the opportunity to complete part of their studies at a foreign university. In addition to the ERASMUS+ university program, which takes you abroad—and international students to Tübingen—the German Department has developed a focus on internationalization by establishing special exchange programs with universities in France, the USA, and Japan. Currently, the German Department has a German Studies Institute Partnership (GIP) with the universities of Namibia and Pretoria, which is funded by the DAAD.
In addition, you can study internationally at the German Department: in the master's program “Intercultural German-French Studies (EIFA),” in the German-French doctoral programs Tübingen-Aix-Düsseldorf “Cultural Conflicts/Conflict Cultures” and Tübingen-Toulouse “New Critical Theories and Decentralized Epistemologies,” as well as in the doctoral program “Cultural Studies in Literary Interzones.”
Further exchange programs at the University of Tübingen can be found here.
The ERASMUS+ university program offers students the opportunity to study abroad at a European partner university. Students at the German Department who are interested in spending 3 to 12 months abroad can study at partner institutions at these universities. Erasmus stays abroad are possible at any stage of study (BA, MA, and PhD), for a total of up to 36 months.
The University of Tübingen has joined forces with ten other European universities in the alliance „CIVIS – A European Civic University“ . The partner universities want to work together to promote international student exchange. The network is funded as a “European University” under the EU's “ERASMUS+” program.
