German Linguistics

The main focus of the work done in German Linguistics in Tübingen is to productively combine theoretical considerations with empirical research.

Our goal is to check and clarify modern linguistic theories using linguistic data from German.

In addition to introspective data, we employ current methodology from corpus linguistics and psycholinguistics to build a solit empirical foundation for our research. In this, we collaborate extensively with the Department of Linguistics and our colleagues at the other philologies at the Faculty of Humanities. In addition, we are part of a number of interdisciplinary cooperations through our participation in the SFB 833 "The Construction of Meaning: The Dynamics and Adaptivity of Linguistic Structures".
