The internet offers a wealth of resources for teaching. But how can teachers and other educational professionals make optimal use of these opportunities?
The overarching research question of this dissertation is how different types of resources can be used to support professional learning in education. To address this question, the project focuses on several topics:
1. How do different backgrounds of teacher educators and pre-service teachers influence their use of the TüDi-BASE clearinghouse website developed by TüCeDE (now DUO)? The platform provides research-based insights on teaching with digital media and on media education tailored for educational practice. A mixed-methods study combines and analyzes qualitative data collected during website use with quantitative questionnaire data.
2. How can teachers be supported in finding, evaluating, using, adapting, and sharing Open Educational Resources (OER)? A systematic review synthesizes the current
research to identify facilitating and hindering factors influencing teachers’ engagement with openly accessible educational materials.
3. How effective are Educative Curriculum Materials, which are learning materials designed not only for student learning but also to support teacher learning? A meta-analysis investigates the effectiveness of these materials for both students and teachers, examining design features, implementation conditions, and methodological moderators.
