Have you completed the first stage in the path to the teaching profession, the Bachelor of Education program, or are you about to complete it? Then the next milestone is the transition to the Master of Education. In this step, we would like you to accompany and support you individually with the Tübingen Master of Education Assessment (TüMAS). What does it involve?

From research on teacher training and the teaching profession, we know how important it is for prospective teachers to repeatedly take a close look at their own development process and ask themselves:

• Where am I currently in terms of my professional development? In which direction do I want to develop further?
• In what areas do I want to promote my development in a more targeted way, and how can I do that?
• How do I feel during my studies? Do I feel up to the requirements? Am I experiencing any stresses or uncertainties?
• Am I (still) on the right track with my chosen career? Does the career goal of teaching (still) suit me? Are there any alternatives for me?

To ensure that all teaching students at the transition to the Master of Education use the opportunity to address these questions, we have developed the Tübingen Master of Education Assessment (TüMAS), which consists of two steps:

Step 1 – Mandatory Online Self-Assessment TüSE - Check your Choice
Here, all applicants for the Master of Education independently go through the online self-assessment TüSE – Check your Choice. This assessment is similar to the Teacher Orientation Test (which you took before enrolling in the Bachelor of Education). However, it is more focused on the developmental process you have gone through during your teaching studies until now. TüSE – Check your Choice allows you to address personal, study-related and career-related aspects of your development at the transition to the Master of Education and to take a closer look at the fit of your further professional path. Because of this, as part of the assessment process, you will receive an electronic evaluation to help you better assess the current state within your development process. The result of your assessment will not be given to any third party.

Important: at the end of the assessment, you will receive a certificate of participation, which you must enclose with your application for transfer or enrolment as a mandatory requirement for your matriculation in the Master of Education.

To the online self-assessment: TüSE - Check your Choice

Step 2 – Non-Binding Consulting Service TüSE - Reflect your Choice
Should you need further clarification after the online self-assessment or wish to deepen the initiated reflection process, we invite you to make use of our newly developed consulting service TüSE – Reflect your Choice. It involves a single clearing meeting with a trained advisor, which you can use to orient yourself as an individual, assess your current position and plan the further steps of your study- and career-related development. The questions raised (see above) can be discussed in more detail and examined in light of your personal situation. There is no obligation to make use of the consulting service; rather, the opportunity for consultation represents an offer on our part that can be used on a voluntary basis. If you would like to discuss your assessment result in more detail, this only serves as a reason for the consultation – the assessment result itself remains with you at all times and is not passed on to third parties.
