Top rankings at the DHM Tennis 2022

Tübingen athletes successful in women's singles and mixed doubles

With 8 tennis players, including 4 women and 4 men, the University of Tübingen traveled to the German University Championships last Thursday at the Sports University Cologne. While the men were unfortunately eliminated in round one or two, the women won all their first round matches.
In the second round, Lena Burkhardtsmaier lost to team-mate Larissa Ernst 6:1 6:2, while Anna Bögner and Antonia Blattner were able to confidently win their two second round matches.
In the third round, Larissa Ernst had to prove herself again against a teammate and lost to 2nd seed Anna Bögner 6-1 6-4, while Antonia Blattner won her third round match against the tournament's 8th seed 6-3 7-6 to advance to the semifinals along with teammate Anna Bögner.
In the semifinals, of all things, the two Tübingen players met. Anna Bögner lost to Antonia Blattner 6:1 7:6, who was thus able to enter the final of the tournament. In the final on Sunday, Antonia Blattner, seeded at position 2, won confidently with 6:0 6:2 and became "German University Champion 2022" without having dropped a set.
Also in the Mixed Doubles the players* of the University of Tübingen brought home the title and did not only take first place with Anna Bögner and Aaron Stahl, but were able to celebrate a triple triumph with Antonia Blattner and Jonathan Eberwein on second place and Larissa Ernst and David Kern on third place.
