Application Day 2026: Insights into the Master's Program in “Empirical Educational Research and Educational Psychology”
On June 23, 2026, the Hector Institute opened its doors for the Application Day for the master’s program in “Empirical Educational Research and Educational Psychology”. Prospective students took advantage of the day to learn about the program’s research focuses and student life in Tübingen.
The program - which can be viewed in detail here in German - offered a perfect blend of science and practice:
Following a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Benjamin Nagengast, a poster session and the “Open Lab” provided insights into current projects. Lectures and seminars - including one by Prof. Dr. Yizhen Huang (on what simulation and AI reveal about teaching and learning processes) - demonstrated the institute’s methodological breadth.
To ensure a personal touch, members of the student council guided participants throughout the day, answering questions through direct conversation during a city tour, lunch, and a concluding 'Stocherkahn' boat ride on the Neckar River. The academic advising office and the student council were available all day at the information booth to answer individual questions.
We were delighted by the great interest - despite the heat - and lively exchange with prospective students - and hope to see many of you again in the master’s program!
