Project Seminar Kicks Off with European Athletics

As part of the project seminar “Communication Concept for EA Development”, led by Dr Verena Burk, students met with representatives of European Athletics (EA) for a kick-off meeting on 19 October.

Liese Schroven, EA Development Manager, and Chris Broadbent, EA Chief Editor, introduced the students to the work of the European athletics governing body and its wide range of development activities.

The meeting focused on the development programmes and projects of European Athletics. Schroven and Broadbent outlined their objectives, target groups and contribution to the development of athletics across Europe. They also provided insights into the organisation’s vision and existing communication activities. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about EA’s strategic objectives and day-to-day work.

Throughout the semester, the students will explore how European Athletics communicates its development activities. Building on an analysis of existing communication and benchmarking against other organisations, they will develop ideas and recommendations on how EA can communicate its programmes and projects more effectively and better engage its target groups in the future.

The kick-off meeting marked an important first step in the joint project and laid the foundations for continued collaboration between European Athletics and the students.
