Tübingen Lectures in Sport Economics

3.6.2021 – Online summer lectures by three renowned Sport Economists on current issues in sports betting markets, transfer markets as well as COVID-19 and spectator sports.

Invited by the Institute of Sports Science (Research Group in Sport Economics, Sport Management & Media Research) and the Tübingen Data Science and Sports Lab three renowned sport economists will present their current research in sport economics on Tuesday afternoons in June and July.

On June 8, Professor Christian Deutscher (University of Bielefeld) presents his latest findings about “The dynamics of sports betting markets“. Two weeks later, i.e. on June 22, Professor Ian McHale (University of Liverpool, UK) talks about his research on “Predicting transfer market fees with machine learning”. The final lecture will be held by Professor James Reade (University of Reading, UK) on “Covid-19 and spectators sports” (some of his latest findings on this topic were already published recently in Economics Letters).
