In 2018 excavations on the well known multi-period site Movila lui Deciov started as a joint project of the University of Tübingen with the Banat Museum. The site is located about 1 km north of the village Dudeştii Vechi, west of the former course of the Ciganska Aranka river which today is divided by dams in smaller fishponds. Immediately to the north of the settlements emerging as a small hill in the terrain today runs an irrigation channel from the socialist time.
The site was studied already in 1906 and 1907 under the direction of the Hungarian scholar Kisléghi Nagy Gyula and then again in 2000 and 2001 by a Romanian-Canadian team (Maillol et al., 2004).
The project is funded by research grant KR 2951/10-2 of the German Research Foundation
