In 2022, the Faculty of Protestant Theology (ETF), the Faculty of Catholic Theology (KTF) and the Centre for Islamic Theology (ZITh) decided to create a joint administrative unit: The Administration of the Three Theologies (GSV). By merging the three administrations, synergy effects are to be created and cooperation between the three theologies is to be strengthened and promoted.

The GSV is an administrative unit that serves the three theologies with their more than 30 professorships. It is a service provider for the theologies, specialising in finance, personnel and rooms. To this end, the three theologies have each contributed positions to the GSV. In accordance with the usual division of tasks in decentralised university administration into academic self-administration and non-academic administration, the task of the joint seminary administration is non-academic administration, in particular

  • Finance, including procurement and third party funds (third party funds without budgetary authority),
  • Personnel matters relating to academic support staff, i.e. administrative positions, student and research assistants (academic staff are managed by the Dean's Offices at the ETF and KTF),
  • Facilities management and equipment,
  • Management and general administration of the organisation

The administration of academic staff, research and teaching and the allocation of rooms for the two Christian theologies remains in the deaneries of the Faculty of Protestant Theology and the Faculty of Catholic Theology. The academic self-administration of the Centre for Islamic Theology is handled by the academic coordination and is supported by the staff of the Centre Secretariat.

A three-member Board of Directors has been formed as the Board of the Administration of the Theologies. It consists of the respective rectors of the two faculties and a person nominated by the Centre for Islamic Theology. The presidency rotates automatically every two years among the members of the Board of the three institutions.

The Head of GSV is primarily operational and manages the GSV team.

Since the beginning of the summer semester 2024, the Administration of Theologies has been located on the ground floor of the new ZITh building on the Theological Campus at Liebermeisterstr. 18.
