Founded in 1477, the University of Tübingen is one of Europe’s oldest universities and one of Germany’s select ‘excellence’ universities. Tübingen itself is a vibrant college town (population around 90.000) with many international students and researchers and an active cultural life. The university’s libraries offer excellent English-language resources. The Brechtbau, home to the English Department, has its own library and a theater hosting frequent student productions. The Tübingen-Stuttgart region is one of the strongest economic centers of Germany, providing extensive internship opportunities. At the same time, living in Tübingen will give you easy access to beautiful nature, cultural institutions, and historical landmarks.
