In the business world, the areas of cross-cultural leadership and negotiation are key success factors for international companies. However, the form of leadership and negotiation differs from culture to culture. In view of the increasing global economic integration and internationalization of companies, it is therefore of rising importance to recognize and understand cultural differences and their effects in the economic and business context. Students learn about the relevant cultural theories of Hofstede, Trompenaars and GLOBE to describe and compare cultures. Cultural differences in leadership and negotiation techniques in Chinese and US-American contexts are shown and suggestions for appropriate actions developed. Part of the course are group assignments, group presentations, discussion parts, case studies, video clips and simulations.
