Gustav Seitz (1906–1969) is regarded as one of the most important German sculptors of the twentieth century. During a 1951 trip to China as part of a German Democratic Republic delegation, he produced a remarkable series of ink studies depicting everyday life in the People’s Republic of China shortly after its founding.
