Tübingen School of Education (TüSE)

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in TüSE Research

The Special Interest Groups (SIGs) under the umbrella of TüSE Research are topic-specific research groups in teacher education, school and classroom research at the University of Tübingen. Researchers at the University of Tübingen jointly conduct research on common topics, based on common methodological approaches, or using common or complementary methods.

The Tübingen School of Education supports the SIGs financially. The establishment and characteristics of the SIGs are the result of an intensive exchange with the Advisory Board and School Board, as well as closed meetings. They were unanimously approved at a School Board meeting on July 8, 2019. The SIGs each have a spokesperson.  The basis is a written outline as well as a short presentation on the planned SIG’s topic, approaches, participants and forms of exchange within the framework of the School Board, which ultimately votes on the establishment as a SIG.

The topic worked on jointly must be relevant to the field of teacher education, school and classroom research. At least two individuals from Tübingen's subject didactics and/or sciences and humanities, or at least one from subject didactics/sciences and humanities and one from the educational science areas of Tübingen University, must be involved in a SIG. Work meetings must take place at least once per semester. The goal of the thematically diverse SIGs is, for the time being, completely open: the collaborative research work can, for example, range from regular discussion rounds to the organization of specialist conferences, to the joint preparation of publications or DFG proposals.
