Hannah Deininger Honored with FUTURE EDUCATION Early Career Award
Recognition for outstanding transdisciplinary research in educational technology
We are proud that our postdoctoral researcher Dr. Hannah Deininger, together with her co-authors of the Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology, has been honored with the FUTURE EDUCATION Early Career Award 2026 for the paper “Using Theory-Informed Learning Analytics to Understand How Homework Behavior Predicts Achievement.”
The award was presented on September 2 during the FUTURE EDUCATION Conference at the University of Graz.
The paper addresses the question of how digital behavioral data can be used to better understand the relationship between homework behavior and learning outcomes. Among other findings, the study shows that the actual effort invested in completing homework is a more meaningful predictor of learning success than the amount of time spent on homework or self-reported accounts of homework behavior.
The FUTURE EDUCATION Award recognizes outstanding transdisciplinary research by early-career scholars in the fields of education, learning, development, and instruction. Awarded annually since 2024, the Early Career Award carries a prize of 1,000 euros and is granted per research cluster.
