Study by the University of Tübingen shows: Parents' preferences and working conditions play an important role in the decision process of becoming a teacher.

Parental influence plays a significant role in teachers' career choices. In addition, there are other characteristics that increase the likelihood of students taking up teaching studies: among others, social interests, the need for a secure job and the desire to have children. Development and promotion opportunities, on the other hand, are of secondary importance for the choice of a teaching profession.
