Pia Rojahn is a lecturer and researcher at the Department for Philosophy of Education at the University of Tübingen. Her majors were Education and English Literature during her undergraduate studies at University of Wuppertal. She specialized in Theory of Education (Bildung) and Social Analysis in her Master’s degree in Education at the same university.
She defended her PhD thesis on Hannah Arendt’s Pedagogy (or Rethinking Teacher Education with Hannah Arendt) in July 2024. Her thesis, firstly, demonstrates that Arendt’s oeuvre contains a theory of Bildung. In a second step, the thesis explains why this theory of Bildung (developed with reference to Arendt) is a much better foundation for contemporary teacher training than any neo-liberal learning idea.
Pia Rojahn’s research and teaching interests are Philosophy of Education, especially Theory of Education, Education Politics, Teacher Education and the relationship between Digitalization and Education.
