Master in Sociology with a Focus on Empirical Research

The Master's program in Sociology with a Focus on Empirical Research at the University of Tübingen’s Department of Sociology offers a research-oriented further qualification in Sociology with a special emphasis on quantitative and qualitative methods of empirical social research. The specialisation in terms of content is oriented towards the Institute's main areas of work: migration, education and the life course, gender - body - knowledge and social inequality and institutions.
The Master's degree is a programme based on the Bachelor’s programme in Sociology and is set up with a four-semester regular duration of study. Of the 120 credit points in this programme, 108 are completed in the major subject Sociology and 12 in the area of compulsory elective subjects. The Master's programme starts in the winter semester.


For me, the ESF master's degree program is characterized by its versatility Practical training in methods, especially working with other students in the teaching research project.
