University of Tübingen welcomes Prof. Dr. Timo Sohl as Chair of Strategy

The School of Business and Economics is delighted to announce that Prof. Dr. Timo Sohl has joined the University of Tübingen as Professor and Chair of Strategy

Prof. Sohl’s research examines corporate strategy—especially firms’ boundaries, diversification, and resource allocation after external shocks. His work has appeared in leading journals including Management Science, Organization Science, and the Strategic Management Journal. Prof. Sohl joins Tübingen from Pompeu Fabra University, where he served as Ramón y Cajal Research Professor and previously as Assistant Professor of Strategy. He has held visiting roles at the Deutsche Bundesbank and Texas A&M University. He earned his Ph.D. in Management from the University of St. Gallen and a Diplom-Volkswirt (M.Sc. equivalent) in Economics from the University of Heidelberg.


Beginning in the Winter Semester 2025/26, Prof. Sohl will teach Global Strategy (B.Sc.) and Corporate Strategy: M&A and Divestitures (M.Sc.), and supervise bachelor’s and master’s theses. He also serves as Academic Coordinator of the M.Sc. in General Management.
