Axel Stühmer-Preis

Bachelor's students in the School of Business and Economics who are planning to study abroad in Latin America can apply for the Axel Stühmer-Preis.

The application deadline is in February of each year.

Dr. Axel Stühmer was a committed, tolerant, sociable, and inquisitive person with a strong international orientation. He began his studies in Tübingen in 1991, studied at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina) in 1994/95, and graduated with honors in 1997. He received his doctorate (Dr. rer. pol) in Tübingen in 2002. Axel Stühmer had close ties to Tübingen and many people there, and after completing his studies, he built a successful career in the international insurance sector.

Two prizes of  5.000 € each. The funding is intended to cover travel expenses, living costs, and tuition fees abroad.

Requirements for students

  • Stay abroad in Latin America
  • Very good academic performance
  • Financial need
  • Experience report at the end of the stay abroad

Application procedure

  • Letter of motivation (500 words)
  • CV
  • Current transcript of records
  • Proof of financial need (e.g., via BAföG notification or explanation in the letter of motivation)
  • Proof of acceptance at the foreign host university (can be submitted later)

Scholarship Dr. Rolf Wagner-Stiftung

Students in the Department of Economics can apply for a scholarship from the Dr. Rolf Wagner Foundation. The application period for the 2025/2026 scholarship year begins in October 2025.

About Dr. Rolf Wagner

Rolf Wagner studied economics in Tübingen and Zurich from 1962 to 1968, subsequently obtaining his doctorate. He worked as an entrepreneur in the clothing and textile industry in the Zollernalb region.

Purpose of the foundation

  • Promotion of the teaching of economic knowledge, in particular business management concepts, to school pupils.
  • Support for needy and talented students studying economics at the University of Tübingen.

Duration

Initially, one year. A new application can be submitted after the scholarship has expired. 600 € per semester to finance studies (two semesters of funding). In addition, the best scholarship recipient of the year will receive a €600 bonus for outstanding performance.

Requirements for students

  • Student of the School of Business and Economics (at least one year of study remaining).
  • Willingness to hold an information event at a high school
  • Final report at the end of the funding period

The following documents must be submitted to the Alumni Office of the Department of Economics (alumnispam prevention@wiwi.uni-tuebingen.de):

  • Current resume
  • CV
  • Copy of high school diploma
  • Proof of academic achievements (if not a first-year student)
  • Written explanation of financial need
 

WiWi-Netzwerk Tübingen e.V.

The non-profit alumni association WiWi-Netzwerk e.V. supports all kinds of projects! Whether it's a stay abroad, a research trip, an environmental project, or a barbecue: as long as the project is eligible for funding under the association's statutes and the applicant is a member of the WiWi-Netzwerk (Membership can be applied for at the same time as submitting the application.), the chances of receiving funding are good!
