Anne Burkhardt's current research focuses on artificial intelligence and questions of global justice. Drawing on epistemologies, discourses, and theories from the (Global) Souths, she examines the epistemic, infrastructural, economic, environmental, and narrative inequalities surrounding AI, as well as approaches to addressing them.
Her areas of expertise include film and media analysis, applied media and technology ethics, and Global South Studies, with a regional focus on Latin America. She leads the international and interdisciplinary Working GroupAI & Global Justice at the International Center for Global South Studies (ICGSS) and coordinates the RHET AI Center’s international collaboration with partners in the Global South through the RhetAI Coalition.
