DAAD Award for International Students 2026

Deadline 30.04.2026.

Voluntary social commitment is a pillar of our society. Those who can contribute support those who need it. It is rarely recognized that international students and doctoral candidates also make an important and creative contribution and the narrative is one of need rather than contribution.
In order to make these great contributions visible, to tell the stories behind them and to give the commitment a “face”, the DAAD provides German universities with the annual DAAD Prize endowed with €1,000. The prize was awarded at the Dies Universitatis in October 2025 for the first time.
The awards is not only given for commitment in an international context at the university itself, but also beyond. For this reason, nominations are not limited to university employees. We would also explicitly like to receive nominations from the general public or associations in which our students and doctoral candidates actively contribute.

How to apply: As a first step, students need to be nominated. After the nomination, they receive the required application form and an invitation to apply.
All information on the nomination procedure, the application and the selection process can be found at: https://uni-tuebingen.de/en/273795

Application deadline: 30.04.2026.

We look forward to learning more about the diverse commitment of our international students and doctoral candidates.
