The early Vinča culture in Transylvania. Consideration regarding the chronological position, from the correspondence analysis perspectives
Dragoş Diaconescu
Known, especially in the XXth century’s literature, as Vinča-Turdaș phase, the early stage of Vinča culture was culturally separated, due to the last 30 years of archaeological researches in Transylvania and Romanian Banat, in two distinct entities: early Vinča culture and Turdaș culture. The first one is considered to be contemporary to phases A and B of the Vinča culture (according to W. Schier chronology) and the other one to the second half of phase C and the beginning of the D phase. The discoveries from Transylvania assigned, using the comparative method, to the early Vinča culture (A2-B1 sub-phases), are re-evaluated based on the correspondence analysis method and Bayesian approaches.
