The archaeological data of the Earliest Bandkeramik and the LBK are very dissimilar in many respects. It can therefore be discussed whether the transition should better be interpreted as discontinuous rather than continuous. In this lecture the settlement patterns which represent a particularly important aspect of the lifestyle of these two cultures will be compared.
