Englisches Seminar

Ebrar Beşinci

Hi! I am a PhD student in Project B5, Clarifying the Common Ground, within the CRC 1718 Common Ground with James Griffiths and Dr. Timo Buchholz. Our project explores reprise questions, investigating their form and meaning from a cross-linguistic perspective.

Before joining the CRC, I completed an MA in Language and Mind at the University of Siena and a BA in Translation and Interpreting Studies at Hacettepe University in Ankara.

My current work focuses on echo questions in Turkish, but I have a broader fascination with questions in general, especially non-canonical ones. I am particularly interested in how different languages express similar communicative functions and what these comparisons can tell us about language.

More broadly, my research interests include prosody and intonation, the syntax-prosody interface, and experimental approaches to testing linguistic theories.
