Understanding the resilience to stress from rodents to humans

The way how we react and deal with stress is essential for our mental and physical health. Within our TRT-project “Understanding the resilience to stress from rodents to humans” we want to reveal underlying mechanisms of stress, with a specific focus on the impact of resilience, early life stress, sex differences and epigenetic mechanisms. We want to merge the expertise of our different research aspects in rodents and humans. By focusing on this translational perspective, we want to establish a collaborative research line, enrich the capabilities of our respective institutions and foster a deeper understanding of the mechanisms driving stress and resilience.

Dr. Lydia Kogler, Research Group Women’s Mental Health and Brain Function (Deputy Head), Department for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University of Tübingen

Dr. Mariela Chertoff, Research Group Neuroeligenetics and Early life adversities, Faculty of Sciences, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina

Prof. Vanessa Nieratschker, Head of the research group Molecular Psychiatry, Department for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, University of Tübingen

“Within Mariela’s inspiring and enriching stay in Tübingen we came up with new research ideas and collaborations. Our workshop B.R.I.D.G.E. brought together researchers from the Universities of Tübingen and of Buenos Aires and across Southern America (collaborators in Chile and Uruguay). We gained insights into methods, paradigms, but also obstacles in each research line. We now aim to use the funding provided by the TRT as a starting point to obtain preliminary data and apply for external funding. Additionally, we submitted a joint symposium for the 2026 Congress of the Sociedad Argentina de Investigación en Neurociencias (Argentine Society of Neuroscience).”
