Decoding Global Digital Humanities: Mediations in Latin America's Digital Transformation
(Globale Digital Humanities: Vermittlungsprozesse in Lateinamerika digitaler Transformation)
This research cooperation between partners from Argentina and the University of Tübingen aims to analyze contemporary forms of mediation within the growing field of Digital Humanities and the ongoing digital transformation in Latin America. It will examine how digital change challenges and decolonizes established colonial power structures, fostering sustainable forms of dialogue between the Global South and Global North. The project also promotes exchange on emerging trends in pedagogy and education, focusing on the use of digital tools, techniques, and multimodal approaches in the classroom.

"This transcontinental partnership enhances academic exchange and mutual learning, combining European and Latin American perspectives to explore how open-source DH tools and methods can be adapted to different cultural, linguistic, and infrastructural contexts. One of the key strengths of the project is its commitment to equity in the production of digital knowledge, supporting multilingualism, open-source software, and digital sovereignty." “By combining mediation theory with Digital Humanities, this collaborative project investigates the impact of digital tools on literature, cultural production, and pedagogy in both regions. A key focus lies in challenging colonial legacies and power imbalances through sustainable, innovative, and low-tech computing practices that lay the groundwork for a more equitable Global South–Global North dialogue.” Dr. Adriana Rodríguez-Alfonso
