The Erasmus program has been integrated into the Eramus+ program since 2014 and offers students the possibiltiy to study abroad at a European partner university, mainly. The program is based on subject-specific agreements between the institutes of the University of Tübingen and the departments of the partner universities.
Students who want to participate in the Erasmus program need to apply through the Erasmus coordinators of the Department of Sociology. The Erasmus+ program is administered locally at our department. Please see the detailed application guidelines.
Students of the Erasmus program will receive a monthly financial support, the so-called mobility grant. The amount of the monthly support depends on the destination country and ranges from 300 to 420 Euro. See country-specific rates.
The maximum duration of support is 240 days per study course (BA, MA, PhD). The grant will be paid in two instalments: 80 % at the beginning of the stay abroad and 20% after the return and submission of all required documents.
Double funding in conjunction with BAföG (BAföG-grant for studies abroad) is possible.
Students who are interested in exchange programs with non-European partner universities in North- and South America, in Asia, Australia, Africa and Russia need to apply through the International Office. The programs are administered centrally.
Notwithstanding this, students should always inform the Erasmus coordinators of the Department of Sociology about their plans to study abroad and obtain their advice on the courses at the partner institute whether they can be recognized as part of their studies in Tübingen. Students can also contact the student counselling service of the department for advice on study planning.
