ERASMUS and exchange to Tübingen

General information on courses and enrollment

  • Unfortunately, because lecturer in Germany can deliberately decide which courses they will offer, we can not provide detailed information on courses in upcoming terms beyond the next.
  • You will find information on all Courses in Sociology  on the campus wide Course catalogue of the University Tuebingen.
    In this catalogue you can also find the enrollment period for every course (which may vary by course but typically starts 4-6 weeks before the start of the term). See Basic Data ⮞ Period.
    You can filter the course catalogue to your needs:
    • Start by selecting the according term

    • You can select a teaching language, e.g. English or German

    • To filter for courses of sociology:
      In the organizational units field select: University ⮞ faculties ⮞ Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences ⮞ Department of Social Sciences ⮞Institute of Sociology
      and check the second checkbox in this row
      Click  "carry over this selection"

    • Click "Search"

  • If you do not have Alma access yet but want to make sure your enrollment will be accepted or have other questions on the courses please contact the according lecturers directly via email. You can find the lecturers in the tab Parallelgroups/Appoinments ⮞ Performing Lecturers.

  • There is a special site providing information on German language courses and courses on German culture at the University of Tuebingen.

 

 

 

 

English-speaking courses in spring term 24

In general about 20% of our courses in Sociology are held in english language.

  • Unfortunately in summer term 24, at the Bachelor level there is a limited number of course offers:
    •  Claire Bullen: Gender and the city (from an ethnographic perspective)

    • Ibrahim Akinyemi How does sociology help in solving social problems: an introduction to applied sociology

  • There are more options at the Master level and depending on your prior experiences they might or might not be of interest to you:
    - Moral Neighborhoods - Sociology of urban cohabitation
    - Several special advanced quantitative and methods training courses.

If you want to take courses from other social sciences or alike departments  (like economics, political science, cultural studies, ...) we advise to

  • contact your local advisors if those courses will be recognized
  • ask the Incoming Team of the International office Tuebingen if your exchange program allows taking this courses.
  • Contact the according lecturers if you can participate although you did not study this subject.
