The course fosters proof competence in propositional logic, set theory, and number theory by teaching children to translate visual into symbolic representations, apply logical operators, and structure mathematical arguments into complete proofs.
The course is aimed at third- and fourth-grade students with an interest in mathematics who are enrolled in the Hector Children’s Academies program.
Why was this course particularly important to you?
It is very important to me that especially gifted and highly gifted children acquire proof competence at an early stage, as they often discover their own mathematical relationships and need to justify them in a well-founded way.
