New Horizons Fellowship

The New Horizons Fellowship aims to stimulate research at the University of Tübingen, establish international contacts, and broaden research horizons. The New Horizons Fellowships are advertised twice a year by the College of Fellows throughout the university and to the general public.

Target Group

  • Leading international researchers with innovative, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary approaches
  • In exceptional cases, German scientists with a predominantly international career or a particular fit
  • No previous lecturers, visiting scholars, or close cooperation partners of the University of Tübingen

Requirements

  • Open call for nominations
  • Nomination by at least five scientists with doctorates from the University of Tübingen (interdisciplinary)
  • A convincing justification of how the nominated person opens up “new horizons” for research and the university
  • To be submitted:
    • Nomination form
    • 1–4-page letter of justification
    • CV and list of publications
  • Send by email to infospam prevention@cof.uni-tuebingen.de (cc to the dean's offices)

Scope of Funding

  • Fellowship duration: up to 6 months (or several short stays)
  • Remuneration: in accordance with the rates of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (scholarship or honorarium)
  • Additional benefits:
    • Travel expenses (arrival and return)
    • Family and child allowances, if applicable
  • Lump sum of €5,000 per focus group for material resources (e.g., workshops, assistants, events)
    No employment relationship, no insurance – proof of health insurance required
