Dear teachers,

We cordially invite you to participate in our “Science Inspires” event with your class (grades 10-13).

“Science Inspires” offers students:

  • insights into exciting research topics of today
  • the opportunity to discuss and ask questions with scientists
  • the chance to come into contact with scientific ways of thinking and working
  • the opportunity to learn about interesting research areas and potential subjects to study at the University of Tübingen
  • insights into different professional fields of scientists

Scientists who have qualified as part of the “Transfer Science and School” certificate program will come to your class for a double lesson and work with the students on an exciting and current research topic. Further information on the exact schedule of events can be found further down this page.

Based on a successful pilot phase since 2021, during which we were able to gain valuable experience, we are pleased to offer all interested teachers and their classes in grades 10-13 at all secondary schools in the region the opportunity to participate in “Science Inspires” starting in 2026.

Are you interested?

All event dates and topics will be published once a year on this website and can then be booked by teachers.

The registration period for dates in the summer semester of 2026 is from March 2 to 15, 2026.

We would be happy to inform you by email about new events that can be booked if you leave us your email address here.

Detailed information on the schedule of events can be found further down this page, and an overview of past events can be found here.

Schedule of events

1. Joint preliminary meeting
To ensure that the event is optimally suited to your class, a short preliminary meeting with the scientist will take place after registration. Here you will learn about the planned content of the event, discuss the students' existing knowledge, and have the opportunity to share your wishes and assessments. All organizational details will also be clarified to ensure that the event runs as smoothly as possible (e.g., exact time, classroom equipment, etc.).

2. Materials for preparation
Approximately two weeks before the event, you will receive materials to help you prepare and get your students in the right frame of mind for the topic (e.g., research assignments, newspaper articles, etc.).

3. Conducting the event
The scientist will visit your class for a double lesson. Together with the students, they will delve into an exciting and current research topic, work on it, and discuss its social relevance and how research can contribute to addressing current social challenges.
