Dr. Ramona Thümmler
In April 2016, Ramona Thuemmler began her post-doctoral studies with the Institute of Educational Science. She works in the Department of Social Pedagogy and is currently assigned to one of its desks: Arbeitsstelle Kindheits- und familienpädagogische Forschung (KipF). This desk handles matters relating to childhood and family pedagogy.
Ms Thümmler’s research and teaching interests focus on early-life child support and how to secure optimal outcomes. One of the issues she is pursuing is what knowledge / know-how is needed by social workers if they are to deal adequately with the growing heterogeneity encountered in pedagogical contexts. How can children with developmental problems be properly supported? What do the children of recently arrived migrants require to make a successful integration? How can pedagogical institutions use their expertise in helping children from disadvantaged backgrounds to deliver appropriate support? To make this happen, which professions in particular will need to network and collaborate?
